[NASDAQ:YHOO] shoots towards the $200 a share mark on Wall Street, after the company soundly beat Wall Street expectations for its second quarter. Yahoo's news also boosted other companies in the Internet sector like Amazon.com [NASDAQ:AMZN], Lycos [NASDAQ:LCOS], Excite [NASDAQ:XCIT] and Netscape Communications [NASDAQ:NSCP] in mid- morning trading on Thursday. Yahoo was up $10.75 or 5.77 percent at $196.375 in mid-morning trading on the Nasdaq exchange, following its earnings news and other financial matters announced after Wednesday's stock market close. relayed by http://www.newsbytes.com The leading Internet search company also announced a two-for-one stock split after the market closed. In addition, Yahoo (YHOO) said Softbank Holdings, already one of the company's biggest investors, increased its stake to 31 percent in a private stock placement that raised US$250 million for the company. Yahoo, based in Santa Clara, California, said it had profit from operations of $8.1 million, or 15 cents a share, for the quarter ended 30 June.
