The privacy advocates then headed to the FTC to plead their case for a recall of the chip, which Intel confirmed is already being shipped to computer makers. ... On Monday, as the protest was announced, the company said it would alter software in the system so that the serial number was disabled unless the computer user voluntarily turned it on. ...
